10 SPYNKA CHILDCARE CENTERS WITH PLAN INTERNATIONAL

10 SPYNKA CHILDCARE CENTERS WITH PLAN INTERNATIONAL

The project aims to create ten childcare programs in the łódzkie voivodeship in Poland. Through comprehensive care, activities and play-based learning children will be provided with a safe place where they can develop freely.

Project dates

July 2022 – June 2023

Goal

The project is intended to support Ukrainian families in the process of gradually integrating into their new environment in Poland. This is especially important in the case of children displaced by war who have been separated from parts of their family and their community. Our Spynka care centers will provide the necessary support to refugee children and their parents and guardians.

The project also creates opportunities for Ukrainian women to participate in FRD’s 160 hour educator training after which they receive the necessary certification to serve as child care takers in Poland. Individuals who successfully complete the training will be employed as educators in the 10 child care centers, providing a stable source of income and employment for these women.

Recipients

  • 270 Ukrainian children in the age range of 0-4 years old will receive support, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day
  • 36 people will receive a qualification to work as professional Daily Caregivers
  • 270 mothers of children will receive support

Activities

The project consists of creating 9 childcare centers and 1 drop-in center for Ukrainian children in the łódzkie Voivodeship.

  • We pick cities where there are the most children from Ukraine (the biggest needs) and create Spynkas in those locations – childcare centers for the youngest children.
  • We provide necessary equipment for Spynkas e.g. furniture and playing materials.
  • We co-finance minor renovations of the space to make it suitable for children.
  • We conduct free qualification courses for the educators (160 hours).
  • We employ the teachers providing them with insurance against civil liability.
  • We provide psychological support for educators, parents and children at no cost to these beneficiaries.
  • We provide children with nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day

Results

  • Creating high-quality, accessible childcare services for children aged 0-4 in Łódź
  • Improving the professional competencies in early childhood development services (ECD) of Ukrainian women.
  • Developing materials on the contextual rights of the child and mother and children’s protection in Poland
  • Ensuring the information mechanisms are adapted to the age, gender and capabilities of recipients.
